Report Mailers datasheet reports are sent in .xls which is very old Excel format. Tools like Power BI do not support the importing or connecting to workbooks created in Excel versions pre 2007. Can i please request that an option is added to Report Mailers to download the spreadsheet as .xlsx?

Thanks for your idea. When we rolled out the Export option on the List pages we changed the format of the file to be CSV. We will consider changing the format of the report mailer attachments, which is actually just the Datasheet view format, to CSV.

Just to give you some feedback. Our product team has looking into this. We have specified a solution that will add a Datasheet view in CSV format to PPO, while maintaining the XLS (mainly because some clients make use of the XLS for integration and other uses). It's about 100hrs of development time, so it's in our bucket to consider, but has not been approved or prioritised just yet. Once it moves we will update this item to planned.
Thanks Guy, I think this will be very beneficial for customers who wish to automate a feed into PowerBI. I'm looking forward to seeing this in the future, hopefully soon.

PPO has its own BI API which you can use today to do reporting from PPO data in Power BI (or any other BI Tool). This API allows you to connect directly to the data, without having to extract the data in this format. Are you aware of this API? Here is a link to the blog article launching it:
Thanks Guy, we tried that route first but the Power BI API only gives a live view of current data, we've no ability to timestamp that data and see how it's trending over time. e.g. utilisation is needed to be viewed across multiple dates. There's also much more reports available compared to the Power BI API, so it gives us a rich view of how projects are performing. Thanks for all your help Guy.
