Default Sort Order on Entities (specifically Tasks)

Hi team,

I recently had a colleague ask me why the order of the task entity was showing incorrectly after uploading a project template. I soon found it was due to the default ordering taking an unknown column and so ordering the tasks in what looked like a random order.

After checking with colleagues it appeared that the list pages don't default to sort by a specific field until specified by the users; so in the example with the tasks entity it only sorted after asking the user to set the tasks to sort by "sort order".

I think it would be a great idea to be able to detail in the entity data fields whether a specific field is a "default" field to take precedence when no default ordering has been chosen, or something like that so that all resources have a similar tailored experience at the time of starting it up for the first time.

If not this complicated, just having the plan ordered by the sort order by default feels like it makes a lot of sense.

  Thanks for your latest comment on this Paulina, we have discussed this internally again in our product review session and have formally raised it for grooming and solution design. With the changes made for list widgets recently, it's now easier to implement this, than before. We will revert soon on the way forward.

  Reflecting on Josh's proposal from 2022, it's clear that setting a default sort order per entity could significantly enhance user experience by providing consistency and predictability right from the start. Many of users continue to face challenges with the default ordering of tasks, especially when integrating new templates or managing large projects. Implementing a default sort field could streamline processes and reduce the need for manual adjustments, saving time and reducing errors. Can we revisit the feasibility of this enhancement to see if there have been any updates or new possibilities with the recent software upgrades? Thank you.

  We have completed the development of this and have deployed to all clients this morning. On the Administration - Widget Configuration - List Widget section for each entity we now support two sorting fields and allow you to sort ascending or descending as per the screenshot below.

  

  The same functionality is available to all users on their list page configuration settings but if you set it under the administration page then it will set it for the users as a default.
