There is a rule that highlights negative variance in red text. Please consider doing the same in green text for positive variances, as the negative ones jump out to our customers, but not those where we are ahead of schedule.

Are you referring the % progress variance field on projects (the % field), because this does already show a RED (negative) and GREEN (for positive) and can be configured as per this KBA:

No, I'm referring to the task list or Gantt view in the status reports. They show variance in red when something is behind schedule, but not in green when ahead of schedule. So customers see the red glaring at them, but not when the opposite is true.
