we sometimes encounter specific scenarios where only milestone tasks are linked to a summary task. Currently, the summary task does not automatically calculate these milestone tasks.
Would it be possible to consider an exception to the existing calculation rule to ensure that summary tasks can calculate when they consist solely of milestones and no other tasks?

Thanks for logging this idea. The summary task will determine the total duration of the tasks that are indented underneath them. As you indicate, milestones are ZERO based duration tasks, but you can amend the duration of the summary task by simply pushing the milestones to that dates they will appear, see my example below:
In this example, even though the summary is only made of milestones with ZERO duration, the summary task is still set to 33 days because the milestones are set for the dates applicable.
I believe this takes care of your requirement.
