Historical Status/RAG Reporting

We'd like the ability to report via PPO on historical statuses, RAGs and other similar fields such as stage, type, etc. As an example, one could report on the number of projects of a certain status for the last 3 months or indeed the number of projects in the various statuses across a given timeframe. This would also serve for reporting on the status/stage/rag of a project at a given time in history, or again over a number of months/years. This may also assist with reporting on historical capacity/allocation trends for planning and forecasting. Please see an example as attached.

  We'd really like to investigate this further. Several clients have a need for this type of historical reporting. RMB, PASA, Sanlam and others. We'd like to be able to report on status/other (and counts of projects in said statuses/other) across certain time-frames, or at set dates as in the example above.

  Thank you for your idea. It should be kept in mind that PPO is not an MIS system and is therefore not geared for trend / historical reporting. This is especially true in the case of calculated RAG indicators where it is difficult or impossible for us to calculate the value of a RAG at a particular point in the past.

  Since we calculate all values in real-time, this type of reporting is also problematic from a performance point of view, especially on very large instances.

  Our recommended solution for this type of requirement is to engage with your data warehouse team, who will be able to extract the information on a scheduled basis and insert it into a data warehouse structure which is suitable for this type of reporting.

  In certain specific cases it may be possible to meet this requirement with standard PPO functionality. We suggest that you log a support call with your specific requirements and we would be happy to advise whether it is possible.

  The need to be able to do trend reporting on health indicators is now also a high priority requirement at EOH. UTi is also interested in doing trend reporting.

  The use of trend reporting for risks and issues on project and portfolio level was raised by Sanlam ITISS as a high priority. The availability of trend reporting within their preferred tool being PPO are the aim, instead of having a a separate data warehouse tool to do this type of reporting with data from PPO.
