It would be great if there was a way to track what % of the variance is on the critical path of a project. It is one thing to have a 5% variance but if none of it is on the critical path then you have a way to pull back the timeline and the variance presents a 'false positive" but sometimes if you have 5% on the critical path it could have a major impact on the delivery time frame.

Mia Roux Currently PPO is not able to determine the critical path nor the tasks associated with the critical path, when a schedule is imported into PPO. This will result in PPO not being able to track what % of the variance is on which tasks on the critical path.
PPO has mainly been designed as a collaboration and portfolio management tool, rather than a scheduling tool, and thus has limited scheduling capabilities.
We would suggest that when handling advanced functionality, like the critical path and the variance percentage on the critical path, that this is rather handled in your MSP Schedule.
