Support for other languages

Currently, PPO is only available in English. Even though PPO provides configurable elements that make it more accessible to non-English speaking users (see this FAQ), it would still be useful to have PPO available in other languages.

This would require the administrator of the instance to specify the language (i.e. Spanish, Portuguese, French) from the system configuration and will change all elements of PPO (action words, entity names, captions, field descriptions, menu items, report and dashboard names, and so on) to the chosen language.

  I just want to make sure we understand exactly what you're suggesting.

  The PPO captions, descriptions and custom list items are not limited to a specific language - users can change this to be any language they require. The input for text fields is also not restricted.

  Are you suggesting a browser option that allows you to translate text that has been input in another language? Facebook has a similar function, with a "View Translation" link. Is this in line with what you are suggesting? If not, please elaborate in order for us to get a better understanding of your requirement.

  Multi Language Clients: PPO must have an option for any user to Change the Language for the PPO captions, descriptions and custom list items.

   

  The Facebook "View Translation" link is a very nice idea Thanx! But I think that is a BING option in IE.

  As we gain more and more international clients, multi-language support is something that comes up more. At the moment however, we are concentrating on English speaking markets.

  If we do decide to support other languages however, it will be limited to specific languages (based on demand) and will be limited to the menu items, button captions, messages, etc. At that time we may also provide a version of our pre-configured instances with field captions, custom list items etc in that specific languages. As I am sure you understand, this will however be a huge undertaking.

  Currently the technology is just not there to "automagically" translate everything in PPO (including data) to a user's chosen language.
