When searching using google, it allows for exact search phrases in advanced searching options. Is it possible to implement something similar. When I search "van der Merwe" I am currently getting search results of ALL surnames with "van, and "der" in. I get words containing "van" and "der". Would simplify searching.

Mia Roux Although PPO does not explicitly support matching an exact phrase, it will automatically give a higher search score to an exact match. Therefore, if you searched for "Van der Merwe" matching items should have been at the top of the search results, although it would also show the partial matches further down.
PPO automatically excludes certain very common so-called "stop" words e.g. "and", "or", "in" and "the". Certain word phrases such as "van" ,"der" and "du" are however language specific and commonly seen in surnames.
In the above case, omitting the common terms and just searching for "Merwe" would have had the same result as an exact match.
